You thought you would be rebuilding yourself, become stronger, but you discovered everything else came first: family, friends, career. You’d lost everything. You pretended it started with the overdose, then rehab, but it started when Nick seduced you from Eddie.

A return to Lester Street is reckless, but you go anyway, knowing Nick’s on tour. The spare key’s under a planter of dead petunias. Your music folder’s on top of the piano, red ink deletes your name. You’d expected nothing less. Nick steals everything.
