Why I Started Blogging:

Blogging is one of those activities that I had given a lot of thought to because I thought it would provide an outlet for two of the things I love: writing and reading. But, since procrastination is my middle name, (yep, Sascha Procrastination Darlington, my parents didn’t give me a chance on that one, did they?), I put it off.

In March, I lost my sister-in-law. It was sudden and heart-breaking and a stimulus to just put-up or shut-up. Start doing the things that I have been wanting to do. Start being mindful and get my act together.

So, here I am, over four months later, blogging and loving it because it has introduced me to a wonderful community of people who I didn’t know existed, but now that I’ve found them, couldn’t imagine a day not sharing their world. They have also encouraged me and supported, and, frankly, in this current climate where it seems like people are indifferent to one another, that is just freaking fantastic!

My Advice to Fellow Bloggers:

The big one and first one is to ask the question: what do you want from your blog? If you want to share yourself with a community, then you also have to participate. Read other blogs and comment. Find blogs that share commonalities with yours, read and comment. The comment can even be a “like” if you don’t have anything to say.

Try to post as often as you can. If you don’t show up, you are missed. Surprise! Yes, I’m sure I’m not the only one who notices when I haven’t seen one of my favorite bloggers posting.

Make certain that your blog is about something for which you feel passion. Otherwise, I don’t know that you will continue. While it can be stressful to put yourself out there, it can also be liberating.
