The Practice Room (97 words)
Rachel entered the practice room, her eyes scanning for Anton. Oddly he wasn’t in first chair yet.
Anton, her love, her raison d’etre.
Rachel dreamed of a parallel universe where she was not shy, sad, or socially inept but Anton would still be the clown, life embodied, ridiculously cute, and kind. But there he might be in love with her, too.
Removing her viola from its case, Rachel glanced around. She noticed tears, tissues, even amongst the men. Sniffles rose in stereo. Her heart stilled.
“He left a note. He was so unhappy.”
“Poor Anton. Who knew?”

WOW
Well. That sucks.
I’ll try to make next week’s a little more cheery. 🙂
Yes. Please do 😉
Teasing. Good story!
Thanks! No, I have been trying to mix it up. It always seems like the tear jerkers are easier to write.
I hear ya!!
Who knows what people may be feeling inside. Nice piece, very sad.
Thank you.
Excellent twist at the end. If only she had told him of her feelings for him, maybe she could have saved him. Powerful story.
Thank you! 🙂
I have always suspected that behind the clown’s mask there are tears… got me thinking of Robin Williams-
Yes! One of the funniest people I’ve ever heard and so much beneath the surface.
Dear Sascha,
A friend in show business once told me that the most depressed people in Hollywood were the comedians. Sad but true. Good story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you, Rochelle! I have found it to be true. 🙂
