“Please let me play. You know I can score,” Gina says.
Coach shakes his head. “If you get reinjured we lose you for the next game.”
“If we lose this game, we don’t get a next game.”
“Take a seat. You aren’t going in.”
She can barely watch as the opposing teams’ defenders send the ball back toward her team’s goalie. She watches between her fingers as the ball goes in the net.
“Please let me go in. The trainer says I’m fine,” Gina tries again.
“It ain’t happening. Take a seat.”
Her first instinct is to take the seat and throw it, but she sits, her feet bouncing as she watches her team lose. Just like that, the season’s over.

Love that she was right, understand he couldn’t take the risk.
A hard lesson to learn but the coach was right. There’s always next season and not worth the risk of a serious injury.
