Vacation Packing List
Six long months
the same walls
home, work
car, car, car: commute
Dangling bait—the beach.
Happy dance, hands clasp,
unforced smile,
execute packing list file.
Happy juice:
Dark rum
Malibu
Pineapple juice
Orange juice
Squirt of lime
Glass
Feel fine
Relax, relax.
eReader download:
romance
fantasy
comedy
dramedy
poetry
lazy audio
Music check:
Reggae
Summer
Of
Love
Summer
Happy
Beat,
Jangle
Guitar
Earbuds in
sway
breeze, e-zay!
Eyes closed
mentally
almost there
but
weeks away.
Pack, unpack:
daydreams of
sunshine
seagulls
ocean opera
aria soars.
Tonight TV
cacophony
pattering rain
week end’s drain
feeling insane
except for bait
I won’t complain.

How enjoyabe.
Thank you. A fun write.
Those are the best, aren’t they?
Yes, indeed!
What a wonderful list!
Thank you!
I love the contrasts with the long list of vacation to the terse repetition of a workday. . Car car car…
Thank you, Bjorn. 🙂
You need a holiday 😉
Yes, please….:) hope it was the words that told you and not the quality of the poem. 😉 Thank you.
Of course. Very well written.
Thanks. I wasn’t really searching for compliments–I’m mostly a jokester. 🙂
It was offered freely. I didn’t think you were searching. Joke away.
Thanks…I’m not sure I could stop (or would want to stop….except never want to offend) 🙂
I relaxed just reading it.
That is a better than intended result! I think you’re localish so you’ll understand when I say I’ll relax when I am off of I-95. 🙂
Planning ahead, dreaming–the key to sanity in a hectic world. You’ve a great list.
Thank you…and it is a mental plan for the hopeful near future. 🙂
I like that list. The beach is a wonderful. If we get to go, we forget half our packing and wind up buying what we need when we get there
Yes. I stopped stressing when I realized I wasn’t going to the middle of nowhere. 🙂
🙂
I liked the idea of being mentally almost there but weeks away.
It makes work easier. 🙂
Thank you for reading! (Sorry…it’s late.) 🙂
Yes! I can totally relate to this. You captured the feeling perfectly. Such a fun poem 🙂
