One Afternoon
I drive by the field where it happened almost every day out of necessity unless I want to go twenty minutes out of my way and sometimes, many times, I do.
It was a day, like today, soft sunshine, hot temperatures, the hint of a breeze, but the field was crowded with laughing, hooting, daring teenagers, some dreaming to be World Cup stars, my daughter included.
One instant, one individual, one gun was all it took to irrevocably alter lives, to irrevocably alter my life.

Dark. Seems we are on the same wavelength with this prompt.
I love how everyone sees something different here. I don’t think it’s a psych test, because generally I feel pretty okay. π
I agree. Sometimes it is fun to write outside of who we are.
Wow! Haunting and powerful. Great job Sascha.
Thank you, Susan! π
Sad, but a reflection on the fragility of life, human and otherwise.
Thank you. π
Surprising and sad ending. But then, maybe not so surprising in these days, sad to say.
Thank you for reading and commenting! I really appreciate it. π
