Coffee Time! #weekendcoffeeshare

Thanks for joining me for the weekend coffee share hosted by part-time monster

If we were having coffee, we’d be sitting on a deck in the Outer Banks, NC where it’s warm (no where near as hot as DC) but with a gentle sea breeze that keeps things from being too toasty. We’d be drinking Starbucks this time around, because it was on sale. I think it’s house blend and it’s really quite nice, but, of course, if you’re a coffee purist, you’d probably hate the fact that I add a little raw sugar and milk to it. Latte anyone?

I don’t know if this is a fact for you, but it’s always seemed like I get a deluge of work right before I go on vacation and this past week was no different. I am not complaining, seriously, because I’ve always loved my job and the people I work with, but this week resulted in several days of no writing, which I don’t like to make a habit because I have experienced months of no writing. I never want to go back to that. Not now when I know how much a part of me writing is.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you to listen. I’m too far away from ocean at the moment to hear the waves, but there is a lot of quiet, with just nature filling in. It’s a nice change from the constant barrage of human noise (mechanical whirrings, traffic, sirens, air conditioners, lawn mowers, people) at home. Earlier this evening, the cicadas were so loud in the scrub pine that my ears were actually ringing when I came back inside. I have never heard them so loud. Of course, the imaginative writer started thinking of doomsday plots and world-ending events because of loud cicadas. You can imagine what fun I am to live with!

I’m currently reading The Hunt by Chloe Neill. It’s an ARC that I begged for after having been rejected the first time. It does happen, especially when you are THAT kid who has their hand in the candy jar and trying to grab fistfuls of candy. Books are my candy. Anyway, I am loving it. If you like paranormal, this is a good series. I have reviewed her other two books in the series on this blog. I momentarily stopped reading another ARC, a young adult novel that epitomizes the reason why some adults refuse to read young adult novels.  I’ll get back to it, but it’s not being published until November and I decided I will only read good books this vacation. That’s what vacation is about, right? 🙂

So I’ll leave you with some pics from the past few days. I hope you all have a great week! Stay safe and healthy!

thanks, re: pics. Yes, thanks to google I went a different route and I thought that bridge was just so cool looking as I’d never seen it before…and probably if I had it would STILL be cool looking.
