Cover Love

by Andrew Buckley

I’m terrible when it comes to cover concepts, I just don’t have the faintest idea. Especially when it comes to my own books. So I was thankful when the team at Month9Books, who publishes the HAIR IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES series, came up with an awesome cover concept for the first book. All werewolf covers tend to be the same, either a large hairy creature howling against the background of the moon or a close up of creepy wolf eyes.  The creative team (Team Wolf) had different ideas, and they were all awesome, but finally we settled on a concept.

HAIR IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES follows the journey of Colin Strauss as he navigates the challenges of puberty, and his untimely transformation into a werewolf, in a town that contains a lot more than originally meets the eye.

For the cover for book #1 it made perfect sense to have Colin trying to hide his change from the world as he was ashamed and scared and, at that point, didn’t know the secrets of Elkwood. In book #2, we experience a slightly different Colin. He’s been a werewolf for six months and he’s come to terms with his changes and feels he has a bit of a better handle on his animal inside. The cover, depicting Colin partially changed standing at the steps of the school, ready to face whatever may be happening within, is a great piece of imagery that reflects part of the story.

I can’t wait to see the cover for book #3! 😉
