NaNoWriMo 2017! And, Happy Halloween ๐ŸŽƒ!

Surprise! Actually it’s more of a surprise to me than anyone else, I think. Suddenly it’s here. Again. Doesn’t it just seem like yesterday I was clawing through NaNo for 2016 with my infamous (in my own mind) “Riot of Purple Profanity?” Many of you gave input and encouragement. (Many thanks!) Some of you may have even giggled at the sometimes purple prose. (I did.) I still haven’t reread that book. Like I said, it feels like yesterday in many respects as did the self-induced pressure of posting an installment each day. As you can guess, that isn’t happening this year.

In fact, I still don’t know what I’m going to write. My novel is currently called: The Unnamed Great American Novel. Oh, what aspirations!

I know that there are a few of you out there who are nanoing this year. If you want a commiseration buddy, you can find me as: SaschaDarlington on the nano website. I know that I’ve seen some of you have outlines and all kinds of goodies prepared. (I’m so jealous ๐Ÿ˜‰ .) I will as usual be a pantser.

So good luck to all of you who are participating! Despite my little grumps, I’ve always loved nanowrimo. It’s an incredibly fun challenge.

I’ll provide updates here. Interesting things like if I finally have characters and maybe even a plot and how many cups of coffee I’ve had and whether I used any peppermint mocha creamer and how I’m procrastinating rather than writing something useful. Ah, good times.

On that note, if you are the owner of an idea that is just lying around gathering dust, please jet it my way. (I’m begging you…sob. ๐Ÿ˜ญ) No matter how ludicrous, all ideas will be considered for inclusion in this desperate writer’s attempt at creating a novel.

Anyway, Happy Halloweenย ๐ŸŽƒย ๐Ÿ‘ปย ๐Ÿฌ! I may go write a scary story now.

    1. Considering that it hasn’t started yet, why not do it? If you enter it with no expectations, you can’t possibly lose! (I’m sure there’s logic there somewhere!) ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Thanks very true. I suppose my biggest ‘fear’ is having days I just can’t find the time….but, realistically I understand that is just an excuse…. I will sit down tonight and get my thoughts together. Thanks!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Good luck Sascha! I have decided after OctPoWriMo I need a breakaway. I havenโ€™t even caught up yet Iโ€™m on Day 25 today. But I know u can do it and I wish you luck. As always, I want to read your books when they come out! I love your Fiction writing on here (and poetry) !

  2. Sascha, remember that you asked for ideas. (This is actually from a random plot generator website.) Good luck with this and have fun!!

“Awakening is a student from Brazil who falls in love with her teacher. The two are separated when the teacher falls into the ocean and loses her memory. However, Awakening manages to rescue the situation by composing a magical song.”

    1. Love it! A plot generator website. Must find. Writing a story about someone called “Awakening” might just be going too far into philosophical or allegory for me. Maybe I’ll try it as a short story.
Are you doing nano this year?
