So, yes, I am jumping the gun, a tad, but it’s Friday afternoon which equates to WEEKEND!!!, and I am actually drinking coffee, which at 4:30 pm is probably not one of my wisest moves, but, hey, ya gotta live dangerously once in a while! 😜

We’re in the last week of March, which is just baffling to me. How did we get here? Where did January, February, and March go? (Did I hibernate? Although my blog posts would suggest I did not.) Does this mean the warmer months may go a bit more slowly? One can hope, but I suspect it ain’t gonna happen.

Organizing

Yesterday I put together all of my Mouse posts and my Exchange Student posts to see what I had. Let’s just say it was an enlightening experience, especially since I am considering trying to turn both into novels. The conclusion I came to was that they both needed a lot of work. For those of you who follow Mouse, it was clear to me that the writer who wrote Mouse in February/March of 2017 was not the same writer in August of 2017. If I needed further proof that certain events had affected me, my writing certainly provided it.

But, this post isn’t about naval-gazing regarding sadness or depression, so….moving on.

Fate

Do you believe in fate? Serendipity? Today I looked at Entangled Publishing’s wishlist for March and came across one’s editor’s desire for an American exchange student abroad falling in love with a local bad boy! (OMG!) (Foreign flavor, romantic complications! Swoon!) That’s my story! That’s my exchange student story….you know….after I add 50,000 words and more swoon to it! 🤣 Do you think it’s fate? I do. This afternoon, I’ve been trying to organize the 6648 words (lol) I have into possible chapters and brainstorming regarding the much-needed new scenes and characters and ideas and motivations and sanity.

Upcoming

I feel like this last week of March is the last week of relative calm. April is going to be jumping.

To give you a heads-up, I am taking part in the AtoZ challenge. If you are unfamiliar or forgot about it and would like to learn more or sign-up, go here. You can see my theme reveal posts here.

I will be writing poetry for National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo).

I’ll be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo.

Why, yes, May will be rest and recovery! 🙃 But actually I love writing so it’s kind of like having permission to do exactly what I love for the entire month of April. Do you think it’s a coincidence that all of that happens in a month that starts with a fool’s day?

Is anyone participating in any of these events? If so, drop me a line in the comments so I can come visit and commiserate support.

ps If anyone is interested in a play-by-play of organizing, writing, submitting, etc Exchange Student, let me know and I’d be happy to share the details.

Be safe! Be happy!

  1. Wow, Sascha, I read through and I’m out of breath. Glad some good fortune arrived with your story, and you definitely have permission to do exactly what you want to. I give myself permission to participate in wine and laziness, although I did have a random meeting through the week that might lead me somewhere interesting (depending on whether you think brainwaves are interesting 😜). Wishing you success, Steve.

    1. Thanks, Steve. I’m going by the philosophy that if I write it here, it’s kind of a commitment. Although “commit” really feels like an interesting word choice right about now. 🙂
