Music Monday is a meme started by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. Pick a song you really like and share it.
Amy Winehouse is a member of the 27 Club, and like many members of that unfortunate club, you wonder what would have happened if she’d lived. Consider this, Adele with her first album was called the next Amy Winehouse. Just imagine what Amy Winehouse with that phenomenal voice could have aspired to.
The song I’ve chosen may not be her best, but it has this killer hook that I love. I could listen to two minutes of the hook being played over and over (for a little while, at any rate). Tears Dry On Their Own by Amy Winehouse.
Enjoy!
Reblogged this on The Militant Negro™.
What an enigma Amy was, nobody has or has had her phrasing ability – brought out in this track, and what a writer she was also – ‘Love is a losing game’???
I think I once heard her phrasing compared to Sinatra, whose phrasing was incomparable. Later, I read that he was actually one of her influences.
Different by I like it
A lot of her music was different, frequently made me think of music from the ’60s.
And, this tune, once that hook gets stuck in my head, I walk around humming it for hours. Yikes! 🙂
