Why’s She Do That?

Tonight I will make supper

Chili Peppers funking away

and dance in the kitchen.

Arms flailing, feet sailing

singing along to their song.

My pup’s eyes suggest

I’m ailing because I’m not nailing

every word, screech owl voice

one more noise he puzzles over.

  1. I love that. My mom’s dog loves Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.” She’ll “sing” along with whoever’s singing it or the recording.

  2. Aw. I am picture Scout turning her head this way and that. Jumping a bit and wondering. They’re so funny and reactive. It’s why dogs are the best. Plus, you can dance however you want & they’re cool with it. I miss it, my old girl so led jump up on me her paws on m6 stomach and I’d dance while she panted, was happy for a bit. Then, she’d want treats (loved her veggies & meat).
Great imagery in this, especially for those of us who’ve experienced it 🙂

    1. Sounds like you need to go to a shelter and adopt. Was that too subtle? 😉
Nope, I would like to always have a pup in my life. They not only bring unconditional love but also a grounding that I think we all need.
Thanks, Mandi. Hope you’re well! 🙂

  3. if only dogs could talk, right? LOL – the secrets they would share …. best they don’t actually communicate in our languages …. but then again, well ….. who’s to say for sure?

loved the whole scene and “screech owl voice” …. how telling for the stories …. but love is love … and best to dance anyhow … 😀

    1. Yes. Always dance….like no one is watching as that goes. I think dogs are smarter than us. They understand our language but we don’t understand theirs.
      I appreciate your reading. 🙂
