A Quadrille written for dVerse. Thank you, Mish!
Why’s She Do That?
Tonight I will make supper
Chili Peppers funking away
and dance in the kitchen.
Arms flailing, feet sailing
singing along to their song.
My pup’s eyes suggest
I’m ailing because I’m not nailing
every word, screech owl voice
one more noise he puzzles over.

Oh, fun. Dogs do look at us that way sometimes. Love it.
Thank you. Yes, even after 9 years, Scout still wonders what I’m up to. Probably keeps us both young. 🙂
What a face! I want to kiss him, big smooch. You’ll have to do it for me. 🙂
lol He gives me a look on the approaching orbit. If he could roll his eyes, he would.
I love that. My mom’s dog loves Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.” She’ll “sing” along with whoever’s singing it or the recording.
Love it! I’ve seen youtube videos of dogs singing. They’re brilliant!
Aw. I am picture Scout turning her head this way and that. Jumping a bit and wondering. They’re so funny and reactive. It’s why dogs are the best. Plus, you can dance however you want & they’re cool with it. I miss it, my old girl so led jump up on me her paws on m6 stomach and I’d dance while she panted, was happy for a bit. Then, she’d want treats (loved her veggies & meat).
Great imagery in this, especially for those of us who’ve experienced it 🙂
Sounds like you need to go to a shelter and adopt. Was that too subtle? 😉
Nope, I would like to always have a pup in my life. They not only bring unconditional love but also a grounding that I think we all need.
Thanks, Mandi. Hope you’re well! 🙂
if only dogs could talk, right? LOL – the secrets they would share …. best they don’t actually communicate in our languages …. but then again, well ….. who’s to say for sure?
loved the whole scene and “screech owl voice” …. how telling for the stories …. but love is love … and best to dance anyhow … 😀
Yes. Always dance….like no one is watching as that goes. I think dogs are smarter than us. They understand our language but we don’t understand theirs.
I appreciate your reading. 🙂
LOL – I know all of my animals have been way smarter than me …. just goes to prove some point or other. Maybe it’s the treats? 😉
Our pets worry about us or at least wonder.
But are always accepting. 🙂 Or at least in my experience.
My cats do something similar – but then so did my daughter before she left home! 🙂
lol, everyone’s a critic, right? Thank you, Kim.
Hah! If only dogs could talk…..what would they say about us???? 🙂
Hopefully they wouldn’t be gossips. That could go bad very quickly. 😀
Thanks, Lillian!
This is so sweet!
Thank you so much, Jo.
A great poem. So fun to think what animals must think of us humans and our actions!
and yet their love is still unconditional 🙂
Thank you, Dwight.
Yes, so true…. more than some humans.
Love how you did the voice of the dog… the attention span shift from your cooking to the screech owl was so fun.
Thank you, Bjorn! 🙂
I like this fun and light take on the prompt. Well done.
Thank you so much! 🙂
I’m sure we amuse them with our behaviors. Goes both ways! A fun quadrille. Thanks for joining in.
