The One AM Call

The One AM Call

In this world

of automated everything

whirring sounds

sighing sounds

screaming, honking, cacophony

how strange

that hooting at 1 am

the barred owl who-who-a whoing

when no one can hear

but me, choosing synonyms

wondering if his/her calls

are reciprocated

like some late night dance

where one does not

want to go home alone.

  1. A wonderful little piece. A conversation between nature and technology. And it’s well written and makes you think. Like on the sense that technology has made us lonely, and the thought of this owl, if he lonely too likethe oerson returning alone honest night with only their phone beeps or car horns.
