Music Monday is a meme started by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. Pick a song you really like and share it.
And now for a little Christmas music.
When I was a little kid, I thought “Merry Christmas, Darling” sung so evocatively by Karen Carpenter was soooooo romantic. These days I listen to it and realize the sound is kind of dated. I would have loved to have heard her sing something without all their trademark building “ooohs” and “ahhhhs.” I would love to have heard her sing an acoustic version. Regardless, I still love the song and that voice, what a voice.
Merry Christmas Darling
We’re apart that’s true
But I can dream and in my dreams
I’m Christmasing with you
“Merry Christmas, Darling” has been covered a lot over the years; Amy Grant’s version is my second favorite, although she added some “oohs and ahhhs” too and deleted the sax solo, which is an improvement (IMHO) despite the fact that I usually love sax music.
Sorry there’s no video on the video. 🙂
Fascinating. Of all the Christmas Music out there, I can’t believe I never heard this one. I used to listen to the Carpenters too! OMG thank you.
I always loved her voice. She had a spectacular voice.
Yes. Another life taken too soon.
