Hearts Hanging On

She asks: “Why are you still with me—I’m a slob and I drink too much, and I dream too much and I’m definitely not who I used to be.”

He says: “I work too much, don’t talk to you enough, flirt with other women, and sometimes after a really lousy day, I take you for granted and forget to ask about you.

She laughs before kissing his knuckles: “You’re right, you suck.”
