I just did a run-through of the previous songs I’ve used for Music Monday and discovered that there are an awful lot of sad and/or slow songs. So let’s be a little happy on this Monday, regardless of everything that’s going on in the world or in our lives. Just for a few minutes, we’ll pretend we’re Shiny, Happy People.

And for the dude who claimed to like music and didn’t know who REM was, I wonder how those two statements can exist in conjunction? Who can like music and not know probably the first alternative rock band out there who, not only wrote some great tunes, but paved the way for lots of future great bands and music? Ah, well. People need to be educated. But not today except for the observation that Kate Pierson from the B-52’s (another great alternative band!) joins in vocals. Today we’re Shiny, Happy People.

And, lastly, I know that this song has its fair amount of haters, but we know about them: haters gonna hate no matter what we do. So, let’s be Shiny, Happy People. Let’s Dance! 😀 💃🕺
