Glance at her clothes
nondescript
unfashionable
like her hair
shoes
makeup
demeanor.
Scholarship girl
among the monied.
Doesn’t drive a BMW
or Mercedes.
Doesn’t drive. Period.
Funny, nice doesn’t cut it
with rich Catholic girls
or boys who know
Mother wouldn’t approve:
"She has no connections!"
Shetells herself she
doesn’t
care.
Just studies, reads, and writes.
One day soon, she thinks
one day soon.

Enjoyed this piece, Sascha. I don’t know what her plans are. Some people just study because they think it will bring them the world, but it rarely does does … It is only ever wealth and power. I hope she is planning a bank robbery.
Ah, that crossed line says a lot in this understanding of one’s socio-economic status while staying determined to whatever one’s cause is. Very interesting!

I do love that crossed out line… the way it tells of the pain it takes not to care… but I think in the end she will make it better than anyone else…
