My Brain and Creative Writing

book

You may have noticed that lately I haven’t been jumping into the writing pile as often as I had been. It may be because I’ve just celebrated a birthday and gotten a year older. (Does that really happen in a day?!) When it comes time for me to write, which I do in the evening, my brain says: “Nope. I’m tired and you expect me to function? Write? Like creatively?”

To which I reply, “Can’t ya?”

My brain replies: “Go binge on Grey’s Anatomy.”

And while I may not binge on TV, I don’t write.

Right now, I’d love to write, but I want to put my head on a pillow more. The sad thing is that the instant I hit the bed, I’m awake (hmm. Maybe I should try writing then… ) and can’t get to sleep. I’ve heard that this is called insomnia. Well, if it is or if it’s not, the net result is that it’s not conducive to writing.

Anyway, that’s what’s going on, in case you were wondering.

Hopefully tomorrow there will be fiction because the truth sucks.

Good night! (Let’s hope!)

    • I agree with you. When I write something intense and get into it so I don’t pay attention to things around me, it can be draining…but also good. Maybe not quite a runner’s high but close. I just need to figure out if it’s eating too late, worrying (I’m very good at that), or what. I might just do more exercise and wear myself out. 😀
