Today’s poem was inspired by one of my favorite Mary Oliver poems, Wild Geese, which I will probably revisit again for inspiration. It’s a beautiful poem that informs me differently upon each reading.
Embraced
How can I be lonely
when each shudder
of the wind wends
birdsong, the chatter
of squirrels, the caw
of ravens while
the soft sunshine
kisses my brow.
The stream gurgles;
the finch trills
among the daffodils
a bee hums, an old
timeless tune.
My earth family
enfolds me in
mossy arms
on the soft bank
of life’s river.
