Music Monday: Gentle on My Mind by Alison Krauss

Music Monday is a meme started by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. Pick a song you really like and share it.

I created an Alison Krauss station on Pandora that I love to listen to when I’m doing mindless work-work, like formatting and stuff like that. The kind of work where you can get away with listening to music but not intense music. This station has uncovered so many new artists for me like last week’s Music Monday entry Vienna Teng and The Wailin’ Jennys whom I’ve included on a previous Music Monday. And then there’s discovering a new Alison Krauss cover of one of my favorite songs.

If the dictionary includes an entry for angel voices, Alison Krauss’ would be there with a picture. Her voice is ethereal, but not the kind of ethereal that’s without substance. I have never heard her sing a song badly (and hope I never do).

The instant I heard this cover this evening, I knew I had to share it with you. My mom was a big Glen Campbell fan and I heard Gentle on My Mind a lot. I liked The Band Perry’s version, which was again different. And now we have a version sung by an angel. I hope you love this one as much as I do.

It’s not clinging to the rocks and ivy
Planted on their columns now that bind me
Or something that somebody said
Because they thought we fit together walking

    1. Have I done Gentle on My Mind for Music Monday? It’s possible. I was doing a lot of stories with songs attached and sometimes I remember to go back to see what I’ve done for music monday and sometimes not. But I’m sure I haven’t done Alison singing this song. 😀
