Alison Krauss last week, Everlast this week. I’m keeping you on your toes.
The first time I heard Everlast (a stage name for Erik Francis Schrody) was the inimitable theme song for the Holly Hunter TV series, Saving Grace. (Which reminds me that I still haven’t seen the last six episodes of that show.) I really liked his voice and was struck when I heard “What It’s Like,” because the song essentially is about judging people and walking a mile in their shoes before you cast stones (How’s that for a long of cliches in one sentence?). It’s as relevant, maybe more so, today as it was in 2000.
hey call her a killer, and they call her a sinner and they call her a whore
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
‘Cause then you really might know what it’s like to have to chooseEverlast/Erik Schrody
