Music Monday: Fire and Rain by James Taylor

Music Monday is a meme started by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. Pick a song you really like and share it.

MusicMonday

I just checked. I’ve done 52 Music Monday posts. I’ve tried to vary the music genres because, not only do I love a lot of different genres, but it can get boring for you if I just play the same artist over and over.

James Taylor is one of my favorites. There are several songs that I just love of his: Carolina in My Mind, You Can Close Your Eyes, Something in the Way She Moves, Sweet Baby James….he wrote and sang so many really good songs. If you like folk rock music and you don’t know James Taylor, you have to check him out. Now. Run, don’t walk to YouTube!

Fire and Rain. It’s melodic, soulful, sad, pleading. The three verses deal with a loved one’s suicide, drug addiction, and lastly being in a mental hospital and watching your dreams going down in flames.

For a bit of trivia, Carole King played the piano on the record.

I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain

I’ve seen sunny days that I thought would never end

I’ve seen lonely times when I could not find a friend

But I always thought that I’d see you again

James Taylor, 1968
