Music Monday is a meme started by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek. Pick a song you really like and share it.

As you’ve probably heard by now, Ric Ocasek, one of the founding members of The Cars died today. The Cars had a lot of very listenable songs and these are a couple of my favorites.
The video of “Drive” was directed by actor Timothy Hutton, depicts a relationship between supermodel Paulina Porizkova and Ric Ocasek (who wrote the song), and was sung by other founding member, Benjamin Orr, who passed in 2000.
The ballad is melodic by melancholy–the opinion of yours truly.
“Just What I Needed” is an earlier song and sounds more punk and British than “Drive,” despite the fact that the band was from Back Bay Boston.
I don’t mind you comin’ here
Songwriters: Ric Ocasek
And wastin’ all my time
‘Cause when you’re standin’, oh so near
I kinda lose my mind
Drive for me has a special memory. I was watching the news about a famine in Ethiopia.. A skeletally thin boy , of about 3 or 4 years of age , wast trying to walk and had a stick to help him. I was so upset to see this. Apparently Bob Geldof (Boom Town Rats) also saw the same news and put the music of Drive to it. This was how he started on Band Aid and later Live Aid. So now every time I hear Drive I think of that poor starving little boy.
I saw something about the song being involved in Live Aid, but I didn’t know that connection. That would certainly change the memory of that song for me.
