I am a confessed newbie to aromatherapy. I have been using essential oils and a diffuser for just over a year now so I was very excited when I had the opportunity to review Aromatherapy for Self-Care by Sarah Swanberg.

Aromatherapy for Self-Care is an excellent guide for anyone who wants to know more about aromatherapy and its uses. Swanberg discusses the role aromatherapy plays in total well-being from mental to physical. She provides a guide on how to use aromatherapy on acupuncture points, in diffusers, as well as skincare, describes the necessary tools, and how to shop for essential oils.

She gives a detailed description of 50 essential oils, what they are good for, and what other oils they can beneficially be combined with. There are also recipes for different needs, such as combinations for aiding sleep, enhancing creativity, treating sunburn, and so many more. This is really a great resource.

One majorly significant warning: While Swanberg says that essential oils should be kept out of reach and children and pets, she does not mention the significant issues using essential oils in diffusers and pets. If you have pets, do not use a diffuser in the same room as them unless you have done enough research to know that the essential oils you are using are not a health risk to them. Tea oil in all forms is especially toxic to dogs.

If you are new to essential oils and aromatherapy, this would be an excellent resource for you!

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
