The Devil You Know


Her every-two-year-lost brother emailed Thursday
imploring her to follow on Facebook
although she visited rarely
discouraged, depressed, by ignorant politics
his words “Democrats are satan”
made her say, without proof, 
you’re smarter than that
to which he queried, 
who will pray for your soul, lil sis?
and she thought if it was up to his mean
tempered self they were all doomed.
