“Breathe Me” by Sia feels like nostalgia, like a memory of a place tinged in sepia. Maybe that’s because it’s from 2004 or because it feels like a song I heard first on the last wisps of summer before going into autumn. A few songs affect me like that, another is Erik Satie’s Gymnopédie No.1. These songs have little in common other than this strange emotion they evoke inside of me.
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found
Yeah I think that I might break
Lost myself again and I feel unsafeBe my friend, hold me
Songwriters: Dan Carey / Sia Furler
Wrap me up, enfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up and breathe me
