Music Monday: Carolina in My Mind by James Taylor

I’m back from Carolina so it only seemed fitting that I want to go back, even in my mind, because who really doesn’t want to extend their vacation?

I’ll have more about my vacation later today or tomorrow but first let’s talk about “Carolina in My Mind.” This song appeared on James Taylor’s debut album for Apple Records and both Paul McCartney and George Harrison appeared on the track. You can read more about the song on wiki.

With a holy host of others standin’ around me

Still I’m on the dark side of the moon

And it seems like it goes on like this forever

You must forgive me, if I’m up and gone to

Carolina in my mind

Songwriters: James Taylor

oh, yes, going to Carolina in my mind…..

      1. I really like it,Sascha, but I was surprised that he barely mentions Carly Simon. I really liked her autobiography as well. She talks a good deal about him as well as a number of famous writers that she grew up knowing. Did you know her dad was the Simon of Simon and Schuster?

      2. I haven’t read her autobiography. However, I think I do remember reading that she was the the daughter of said “Simon.” It’s very interesting that he doesn’t talk about her much. I wonder why that is.

    1. Carly met Daphne du Maurier, who was in love with her mother. I think the reason James doesn’t mention her much is because he left her for his present wife
. Either guilt or his present wife wouldn’t have been happy if he talked about her much.
