Janis Joplin was always synonymous with “Me and Bobbie McGee” when I was growing up. A few years back I heard “Piece of My Heart,” and wondered who was singing. It sounded like Janis Joplin. Strangely I heard that song several times during my commute in those months and it quickly became a favorite, far outshining “Me and Bobbie McGee” in my mind.
As you may or may not know, Janis Joplin unfortunately died at 27; one of those shooting star artists whose light shines far too brightly too early.
I said come on, come on, come on, come on and take it
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby

Great song I’ve always liked. 🙂
It’s funny. Once I heard it, it suddenly seemed to be everywhere. Movies, radio…other singers. 🙂
Love this song!
