The Literal Witch

My offering for Friday Fictioneers is not at the last minute! Just in the last hour! (ha!) Thank you as always to Rochelle! (I’m done with the exclamations points now!) 😉

The Literal Witch

“Wish me luck,” I said before hugging Gracie.

“Break a leg,” she said, then immediately slapped her palm over her mouth, but the damage was done, so to speak.

The critics said that my performance was a masterpiece of restrained tension. “She plays the role as if she is walking on eggshells, waiting for the other shoe to fall.”

If they only knew.

It happened in the third act just after my final soliloquy. I tripped over exactly nothing, toppled from the stage and did exactly as Gracie suggested.

Gracie’s literal Wednesday strikes again.
