Update: Visiting the WoodWick Candle

Besides all of the things you already know that I love like dogs and book music and nature, I love candles, especially in winter when the scents remind me of the holidays: pine, balsam, winterberry, cinnamon, spice.

The WoodWick candle in the Fireside scent. Unfortunately, WP doesn’t have a scent feature. Yet. 😉

When I was recently candle gaping at Kohls, I saw these new (to me) candles called WoodWick Candles. As the candle burns, the wick creates a sound supposedly like a mini-fireplace in a jar. Of course, I had to try it. I love the comfort of fireplace fires.

I lit the candle and the flame spitting started. Do you know how sometimes you’ll light a candle and there will be a few instances where it sizzles as if it’s getting warmed up? Well, that’s what this sounded like. As I knitted, I kept waiting for the sizzle to lessen. Ultimately the candle reminds me of fountain fireworks rather than a fire or even a candle. I’m not sure I’m a fan. Below is a very, very short video. You might up the sound to hear. That isn’t a gusty breeze in my house, by the way. That’s the candle. Actually I think it might sound better in the video than in real life.

The candle does smell lovely though.

Edited to add: The ambiance delivered by this candle has definitely grown on me! If you find yourself curious, I discovered that you can purchase it cheaper through Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
