I was in the kitchen cooking from first memories. No, not the kinds of foods that would feed a family but the easy things. I cut my baking chops on the easy-bake oven toy. In the house where I grew up, foods were typically baked from scratch utilizing the oven or the stove. Gadgets just weren’t around to the degree they are today.
Probably because of that, I’ve not brought a lot of gadgets into my cooking life. I still haven’t used an InstantPot and I’ve given away my rice cooker (stove is just as easy for me) and my slow cooker to someone who needed them.
However, for Christmas I received a kitchen game changer: a GoWise Air Fryer.
With a modicum of oil, I can have roasted veggies in half the time. So far I’ve roasted French and regular green beans, three different types of potatoes, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, tofu, and the pièce de résistance–broccoli. Yes, broccoli.
I’ve always been a broccoli fan. I am that person who will eat raw broccoli with some Italian dressing for lunch and be a completely happy camper. But, roasted broccoli? Oh la la!
Roasting and air fying broccoli not only crisps this nutrient little veg, it sweetens it. In the past, I’ve literally removed a pan of roasted broccoli from the oven and started nibbling, struggling to leave some for the actual meal. With the air fryer, the amount of oil is drastically reduced as is the time, and the results are even better.
Alas, I’ve fallen in love with a kitchen gadget. The GoWise Air Fryer has made me an even happier camper.
