Music Monday: Amie by Pure Prairie League

I won’t give you a lot of preface on this song other than to say that this was a song that I loved from my childhood. I always heard it on rock stations but never country despite the fact that it might sound like a country song.

I couldn’t find a video of the original singer but this one is kind of fascinating for some of you country music buffs out there because I believe it’s Vince Gill. A very, very, very young Vince Gill.

Beneath the Vince Gill version is the original with stronger vocals, the one I really like so give that one a listen if you don’t mind just listening and not seeing.

Don’t you think the time is right for us to find

All the things we thought weren’t proper could be right in time

And can you see

Which way we should turn together or alone

I can never see what’s right or what is wrong

(will it take to long to see)

Songwriters: Craig Lee Fuller
