Google just told me that today would have been Luther Vandross’ 70th birthday. In my mind, we just lost him a few years ago and yet when I looked, it was actually in 2005.
I thought he had a special voice, one that allowed us to connect to his story, his emotion. I found strong feeling in his version of “A House Is Not a Home,” but it was his own penned song with Richard Marx “Dance with My Father” that had me teary. So here. To celebrate a birthday we wish he could have been here to share, “Dance with My Father” by Luther Vandross.
Thank you so much for leaving us with so much great, tender music, Luther.
This is a beautiful song Sascha, and my favourite. It always moves me to tears <3
One of the first times I heard it was on my work commute. I think I did what they call blubbering.
Me too.
I love this song and yes, like you, it always makes me teary
It’s so heartfelt.
