Many thanks as always to Rochelle for Friday Fictioneers.

The Creeper
We called him the “Creeper” because he seemed to be everywhere. We watched him as he seemed to watch us.
In hushed voices, we gathered ideas about what we’d do if he came for one of us.
“Never separate!”
“All for one, one for all!”
Children went missing that summer. Not a coincidence, we figured.
He was responsible. He was odd. A loner. He was stranger-danger.
And we’d catch him.
We got separated on Halloween trick-or-treating. One of us was dragged into the woods. One of us cried out in pain. One of us was saved.
By the “Creeper.”

So, that plan didn’t end well. A seasonal chiller
