Music Monday: June Hymn by The Decemberists

We’re still feeling mellow here on the microcosm, which may not be a bad thing. It kinds of equalizes all the non-mellow harshness floating around in some zones.

Have you heard of The Decemberists? Until this year, I had not despite the fact that they’ve been recording since 2001, but any group that has a song with lyrics that include “a panoply of song” is definitely worth listening to at least once, if not a lot. The more I listened, the more I loved.

A barony of ivy in the trees

Expanding out its empire by degrees

And all the branches burst abloom

In the boom

Heaven sent this cardinal maroon

To decorate our living room
