Look at me! I did it. Three weeks in a row…barely….but who’s paying attention to the fact that I got it in at the deadline? Who? 😉 Me, of course. Many thanks as always to Rochelle. Please follow this link if you’d like to join in on Friday Fictioneers.

A Room of One’s Own
I have written on concrete steps, in a cafeteria, lunchroom, at work, on a beach, in my car…
Frequently at my dinette table, under the stream of a shower, washing dishes.
Now. Finally. A room of my own. Not a word comes.
I jab the space bar, nothing, nada. Is it because I see the siding of their house? The gossipy neighbors who belittle me although they’ve never talked to me?
I pack my laptop, walk a half-mile to a picnic table.
Immediately a song sparrow serenades me.
As a breeze tosses my hair, words arrive.
“All you need is love.”
end
I love this
Thank you so much, Neil! 🙂
Dear Sascha,
It seems a room of her own was more of a detriment than an advantage. Nicely done. Good message.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you so much, Rochelle! 🙂
You make a great point, and so true for me.
To each their own, and her own was not the confines of a specially designated writing area, especially with a view of a creativity stifler like the neighbor. I like the way you told your story, and yay on 3 weeks in a row 🙂
Thanks so much, Lisa. Yes, creativity can be stifled by such. It just occurred to me that I must just have done week 5 and not 4. It’s a good thing I be good at grammar, cause I ain’t with numbers. haha.
