A year ago today we lost a great talent, I think a sometimes underrated talent. A man with a huge voice who could sing a song and make it look easy until you tried to sing it yourself. One of my favorite songs of Chris Cornell here with Audioslave. There’s a chance I may have posted this before, but, hey, can you can’t have too much of a good thing, right?
This should probably have been reserved for a Music Monday post but when I saw “parallel” the song started echoing in my head, which doesn’t take much effort because I’ve been revisiting the best of the Red Hot Chili Peppers lately. Continue reading
I’ve meant to do more to share the music that I love, but, gosh (yes, for you cynics and verbal miscreants, I said “gosh” and I’m proud of it. 😉 ), I don’t know where some people get the time to do so much. Maybe I struggle too much to do so little? Nawww….that can’t be it. Continue reading
Congratulations on getting 1,337 total follows on Sascha Darlington’s Microcosm Explored!
This is what happens when you aren’t paying attention? 😲
I want to thank each and every one of you who’ve followed me and helped me make this such a fun work-in-progress. Every day I learn new things here. The really great part is that I’ve met so many wonderful people along the way and read the writings and seen the art of so many talented people.
And so I’ll leave you (momentarily) with something happy.
Rest in peace, Tom Petty. 1950-2017
A few years back as I was
squandering time learning valuable things on youtube, I discovered this gem. You’re probably familiar with While My Guitar Gently Weeps, with its robust electric guitar. If you appreciate that, then you have to hear what Jake Shimabukuro can do with this instrument. It’s sweet initially and then intense. It’s amazing. Have a listen.
So a couple of weeks ago I ranted about the Train song that seemed gratingly ubiquitous. I will continue to offer up replacement songs that I hear. I heard this one twice on the radio this week (I’m a station flipper; I don’t do it with the tv, but I do flip over commercials or inane DJ chatter). I really like the sound of it. Something different in a cookie cutter world. Portugal. The Man “Feel It Still.”
I just saw this and I have to share. Absolutely fantastic. It makes me smile. 🙂 🙂
