Review of Love Me At Midnight and Special Sale!

Three romantic comedies that’ll melt your heart!

Releasing December 12th, 2016
Entangled Lovestruck

Special needs teacher Kayla Johnston is supposed to be schmoozing at a swanky school fundraiser. Instead, she careens into a snowbank on the side of the road…straight into the path of a wickedly handsome stranger. When their chemistry ignites, Kayla’s New Year’s Eve begins to show some seriously sexy promise…

YOURS AT MIDNIGHT by Robin Bielman
Four years ago, Quinn Sobel gave Lyric Whetsone the night of her life…then disappeared. Now he’s back to make amends, but Lyric has a secret that could drive Quinn from her life forever.

Eliza knows plenty about sexy cowboy Christian Yerrick, the man who crushed her heart when they were kids. Back in town, she’s determined to avoid Chris altogether…until she accidentally rear-ends his truck on New Years Eve, and the fireworks between them burn hotter than the Vegas Strip…

A week after reading Entangled Lovestruck‘s Christmas Anthology (see that review here) I read their New Year’s Anthology, the timing of which seems fitting.

Like the Christmas Anthology, the New Year’s Anthology is comprised of three steamy novellas of romance. Unfortunately unlike the Christmas Anthology in which I adored all three novellas, I’m giving 2/3 of a thumb’s up here.

The anthology begins wiht Robin Bielman’s “Yours at Midnight,” a story about Lyric and Quinn who have known each other practically their entire lives. I loved this story. Lyric and Quinn were both likeable and had a lot of history that made their romance in this novella work. Plus the secret. Lyric’s family is large and intrusive and lovely so it was nice spending time reading about the welcoming, in-your-face family. While it worked great as a novella, it’s almost one that you’d love to read as an expanded novel just because Quinn and Lyric as well as the family are such great characters.

The last novella in the anthology is “One Night in Vegas,” which is again about two people who have known each other a long time. Christian is the best friend of Eliza’s surgeon brother and Eliza has crushed on him for as long as she can remember. There’s a lot to like about this story which includes one of the grand final gestures that we romance lovers adore.

Now the filling is “Melting the Millionaire’s Heart” and this is the one that was off-putting in the very first scene. What the blurb above doesn’t tell you is that Kayla Johnston is playing with her cellphone and that’s why she careens into a snowbank. Her first reaction is to blame the person texting her and then to blame her ex- because he was the subject of the text. I almost moved on to the next story because the irony of authors focusing on condom use and then having their characters use cellphones while driving is not lost on me. I did continue reading. This one has a lot of steaminess (you may want to read for the steam alone) and then the “l” word is tossed around after the first night. You can judge for yourself how you feel about that.

So I give an exuberant two thumb’s up for the very satisfying bread on this sandwich and then a thumb’s down (or maybe sideways) for the filling. However, I think the bread more than makes up for the filling. Definitely read for the charm of Lyric and Quinn (loved Quinn!) and Christian and Eliza.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When not attached to her laptop, USA Today Bestselling Author Robin Bielman can almost always be found with her nose in a book. A California girl, the beach is her favorite place for fun and inspiration. Her fondness for swoon-worthy heroes who flirt and stumble upon the girl they can’t live without jumpstarts most of her story ideas.

She loves to go on adventures, and has skydived, scuba dived, parasailed, gotten lost in the wilderness (and only suffered a gazillion bug bites for it) hiked to waterfalls, and swam with dolphins. In her spare time she also likes to put her treadmill to good use while watching her favorite TV shows, take hikes with her hubby, indulge her sweet tooth, and play sock tug of war with her cute, but sometimes naughty dog, Harry.

She dreams of traveling to faraway places and loves to connect with readers. Keep in touch and sign up for her newsletter on her website at

Linda Morris is a writer of contemporary romance. She writes stories with heart and heat, with a joke or two thrown in. Her book Melting the Millionaire’s Heart was an Amazon Top 100 Series Romance bestseller. Hard Hitters, her series about a fictional minor-league baseball team in southern Indiana, is available from Berkley.

When she’s not writing, working as a freelance editor and technical writer, or mommying, she’s doing yoga, reading, working in her flower garden, or baking delicious things she probably shouldn’t eat. She believes that there are two kinds of people: pie people and cake people, and she is definitely one of the former. Her years of Cubs fandom (and their 2016 World Series win!) prove lost causes aren’t always as lost as they seem. Review of Kiss Me For Christmas and Special Sale!

Kiss Me For Christmas—an Anthology by Christine Bell and Serenity Woods with Riley Murphy and Ros Clarke

Publisher: Entangled Lovestruck

Release Day: December 5, 2016

On Sale for $.99 from Dec 5th – Dec 11th

Kiss Me For Christmas is a gift for you. It consists of three short stories that burgeon with the Christmas Spirit and it’s probably the cheapest and maybe the most satisfying of gifts, perhaps a pleasure to have with melt in your mouth truffles and your favorite beverage.

While all three are supposed to be romantic comedies, it is really only the first, “Little White Lie” that holds claim to that throughout its entirety. Leah has been lying to her parents. Her father has recently become ill and they have moved from Chicago to Arizona. But they worry about her being alone so she makes up a boyfriend, Michael, who then becomes her fiance; and he sounds an awful lot like her real estate partner, whom she’s been crushing on, Mick. As these things tend to happen (it’s called Murphy’s Law), her folks decide to visit for the holidays so they can meet her fiance, Michael. Oops.

In the second story, “All I Want For Christmas,” for the second year in a row, Anna, an accountant has let her hair maybe down a little too far at the annual Christmas party and she may have sung “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to Hugh Munro and they may have kissed and she is definitely hiding in her office the next day, because while she is so very, very attracted to Hugh and he makes her laugh and he makes her days better, there is no way that they could ever be together.

In the third story, “Holly’s First Noel,” (gotta love the pun) Holly’s boyfriend calls her cell while she’s teaching on the last day of school. She knows he’ll keep calling so she picks up and he tells her they’re over. She kind of falls apart, but to the rescue is science teacher, Noel. Knowing that she’ll now be alone for Christmas and feeling a little broken-hearted, Holly agrees to go with Noel to his friend’s “cottage” in Scotland that looks over Loch Ness.

I loved all three of these stories. They are all different. “Little White Lie” is the funnest of them, although even it has its moment of sadness and almost loss, but it acts as a necessary foil. Leah and Mick are so fun and sweet together.

“All I Want For Christmas” probably starts out as the rowdiest of the three, but it quickly becomes complex with Anna’s secret that she hasn’t shared with anyone. It’s sweet and Hugh is just a lovely character, thoughtful, kind and just the kind of boyfriend you want under the tree at Christmas.

“Holly’s First Noel” is probably a good combination of fun, sexy, sad, and sweet. I loved this one a great deal. While Holly is contemplating the loss of her boyfriend, Noel has his own baggage. She is quirky and has a maze-like way of talking that Noel can decipher. They balance each other and create a little steam.

I smiled as I read these stories. They are very well-written with complex characters even though they are short stories and I haven’t been able to say that about a lot of romantic short stories I’ve read, which have seemed more plot driven than character driven. These are definitely character driven and I loved the characters. All of them!

I guess the winning detail for me is that fact that you can get this anthology for a song or $0.99, forget the song. I don’t think the book retailer will listen.

This is Merry Christmas. Enjoy!

LITTLE WHITE LIE by USA Today bestselling author Christine Bell and author Riley Murphy

Leah Latrelle has landed herself in the proverbial holiday hot seat. To get her family off her back, she told them she has a fiancé. And now they want to meet him. But just when it seems her goose is cooked, her sexy-as-sin business partner offers Leah a deal she can’t refuse…

Advertising exec Hugh Munro hasn’t forgotten last year’s scorching-hot kiss with buttoned-up Anna Gardner, and kissing her again at the annual office party only strengthened his resolve to make her his. If all he wants for Christmas is Anna, he’ll have to prove it…to both of them.

HOLLY’S FIRST NOEL by USA Today bestselling author Serenity Woods

What better way for Holly Jones to get over her ex than spending the holidays in solitude with the sexy teacher in the class next door? Except, there’s nothing solitary about their time together—especially not the innocent kiss that flares into much, much more…

Driven to Love #1
Melia Alexander
Entangled Lovestruck
She’s a gorgeous distraction he
can’t afford…or ignore.
Aidan Ross might be an engineering genius, but people skills? Not this soldier’s forte.
Thankfully, a trusted friend is accompanying him to a make-or-break tradeshow…but then a bubbly redhead hops into his truck, claiming to be his new road trip buddy. She’s a gorgeous distraction he can’t afford. Or ignore.
Delaney Harper comes from a family of engineers—maleengineers. With several impressive projects under her belt, she’s on a mission to prove she can hang with the big
boys, too. But cracking the sexy, closed-off CEO is tougher than she expects…and hotter than she could have imagined.
With the tempting woman disrupting his carefully planned schedule, Aidan can’t focus on
the road, much less their upcoming presentation. The future of his company is riding on this trip, and if they’re to land a huge account, he has to keep his head—and his heart—in the game…

Kerri Carpenter began writing in her grandmother’s kitchen at the age of seven in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA. A life-long fan of reading, she got lost in the worlds of The Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High. She also assumed that everyone had characters and plots forming in their heads at all times.

Once she turned to romance novels, she couldn’t get enough of books with happy endings, so she started writing her own. Now, Kerri writes contemporary romances, usually set in small towns. She enjoys reading, cooking, watching movies, taking Zumba classes, rooting for Pittsburgh sports teams, and anything sparkly. Kerri lives in Northern Virginia with her adorable (and mischievous) poodle mix, Harry.

Melia Alexander is the author of sassy, sexy, fun contemporary romances, but is also fortunate to spend her week days at The Male Observation Lab (a.k.a. her job at a construction company) where she gets to observe guys in their natural habitat. Though they often behave like typical alpha males, in many instances she’s seen through their
personas to the heart of who they really are – the heroes of their own stories.
A native of Guam, Melia traded in warm, tropical breezes for the rainy Pacific Northwest. She’s an avid reader who also loves romantic comedies -preferably with a glass of CabSauv and a box of chocolates nearby. In her free time, she’s busy conquering her CrossFit fears: ring dips, muscle snatches, and the dreaded 800 meter run. Her family appreciates her attempts at cooking and cleaning, although she spends it mostly daydreaming about her characters, which sometimes results in a burnt meal and a half-cleaned house.

Review of Sweetly, Deeply, Absolutely and Giveaway!

Sweetly, Deeply, Absolutely by Kira Archer

Publisher: Entangled Lovestruck

Publication Date: October 17, 2016

Jenny Boyd and Jared Crews are like two peas in a pod: they like to party and have sex and not necessarily in that order. Their attraction to each other is instantaneous and the only thing that is keeping them apart is that Jared enjoys living and he’s sure that Jenny’s intimidating older brother, Rick, will end his life if he and Jenny did anything. “It’s all fun and games until the condom breaks.”

When I first started reading Jenny’s thoughts and actions, I had this moment of: oh, no. This is going to read like a teenager on spring break in Florida—Hedonism Zone, no apologies, no prisoners, I’m on vacation and anything goes. Not exactly the kind of mentality I wanted to spend 200+ pages with. Fortunately, Jenny became earthier and more likeable and I was caught up by the characters and situations in Kira Archer’s involving romance.

Archer added some nice touches like the fact that Jenny is intrigued by owls and enjoys bird watching and that Jared is a really good artist as well as a really nice guy and friend despite his reputation as a player, nuances making characters more real. The secondary characters were quirky and important to the novel; their stories had been shared in the other novels of Archer’s Sweet Love series.

By the time I learned the outcome of the breaking condom scenario, I liked both Jared and Jenny. The only reason, besides the beginning that I didn’t give Sweetly, Deeply, Absolutely that one extra butterfly is that the ending just didn’t feel right to me, and unneeded action that seemed to spoil who the characters had been up to that point and I can’t go into specifics because of my no-spoiler rule. Regardless, I do however highly recommend Sweetly, Deeply, Absolutely for it’s unique and endearing pair of Jared and Jenny and for the plotline that definitely kept my attention.

This is definitely one sweet love!

I received an ARC from Tasty Book Tours and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

“So let me draw you, then.”
“What, like pose for you?”
She hesitated. “Like those?” She pointed at the portraits he had hanging on the wall.
He shrugged. “Any way you’d like to pose.”
“Hmm. Lying naked on a couch like in Titanic?”
He laughed and pulled her in close. “If you were naked on a couch I’m not sure I’d be able to keep my hands on my pencils.”
“Ah, but touching the model wouldn’t be professional, would it?” She ran her hands up his chest and he put his hands over hers, hoping she’d leave them there. He’d missed her touch. Had begun to crave it like an addict going through a withdrawal.
For a moment he thought she might draw him closer. But the moment passed. She dropped her hands and stepped away and he closed his eyes against the near physical pain of it.
“Well, I’m nothing if not professional,” he said quietly.
She didn’t look at him for a moment, but when she did her smile was back in place. “How do you want to draw me?” She raised her gaze to him and held it, her sea green eyes boring into his until he felt like he was drowning in them.
He grabbed his sketch pad and a pencil and held out his hand. “Come with me.”
She cocked an eyebrow at him, but took his hand. He led her out of the studio and down the hall to his bathroom where a big, old fashioned claw tub stood.
“You want to draw me taking a bath?”
He chuckled. “I’d actually love to watch you taking a bath, but I’m not sure how long I could remain on the outside of the tub.”
Her cheeks flushed and it was all he could do not to crush her against him and kiss her until she was moaning in his arms. He took a deep breath to get a little control and led her over to the tub and handed her a big, fluffy towel.
“I want to draw you sitting on the edge, your back to me, bare,” he said, his hand tracing the outline of her body down to where her waist met the swell of her hips, “down to here. With the towel draped over the rest of you.”
She watched him watching her, and then she held out her hand for the towel. He’d meant to turn around, give her privacy to undress. He wasn’t sure why. They’d seen each other naked. Several times. The image of her beautiful body would be ingrained in his mind until the day he died and hopefully long afterwards.
But she didn’t give him the option. She pulled her shirt off over her head. Unbuttoned her jeans and pushed them down her legs until she could step out of them. She stared right at him as she reached behind her to unhook her bra and let it slide off her arms. Her panties followed.
She stood before him, bare, breathtakingly beautiful. Neither one of them moved. His heart jack-hammered in his chest, while his body warred with itself. The desire to touch her, draw her into his arms and hold her there forever, made him ache. But the privilege of standing before such perfection was a moment he’d cherish the rest of his life. He wouldn’t ruin it by making an advance that might drive her away. For now, it was enough. More than enough, to just look and worship the unique beauty before him.
A faint smile touched her lips and she turned to sit on the edge of the tub, arranging the towel beneath her. She leaned forward and turned the faucet on. Within moments, steaming water began to fill the tub.
She glanced at him over her shoulder. “Seems a shame to waste the chance to soak in such a beautiful tub. Since I’m right here.”
Jared smiled and began to draw.
She raised her arms to gather her hair in a bun. A few tendrils escaped to tumble down her back. Absolutely perfect. He sketched quickly, his fingers drawing the lines he longed to touch in person, following the contours of her body.
He finished one sketch and pulled out more paper. She shut off the water and stood, swirling the water about with one foot. He drew her from that angle as well. Long, strong lines. Muscles defined beneath the soft curves of her body. He drew until he couldn’t take it anymore.
And then he put the paper aside and went to her.

Kira Archer resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kiddos, and far too many animals in the house. She tends to laugh at inappropriate moments, break all the rules she gives her kids (but only when they aren’t looking), and would rather be reading a book than doing almost anything else. She has odd, eclectic tastes in just about everything and often lets her imagination run away with her. She loves her romances a little playful, a lot sexy, and always with a happily ever after.
